Romsey In Style
27 March 2009
Romsey gets its glad rags on for style events
Romsey will be putting on the style next week for a town-wide fashion and beauty event.
For the first time, Test Valley Borough Council, the town and many
of its independent and national retailers have combined to create
“Romsey in Style” which runs from next Thursday, April 2, to Saturday.
A range of fashion, health and well-being events are being staged
to attract shoppers and visitors to the area. On Thursday night, Silks Hotels will be the venue for the first of two charity
fashion shows, at which Romsey retailers will launch their spring
ranges. Hairdressing for the shows will be provided by Paul Light and
beauty products will come from Bradbeers’s Clarins and Lancome range.
Jo Stirrup, events organiser for Silks Hotels,
said: “Due to advance demand, the event will also now be repeated on
Friday, April 3, again from 7.30pm at the hotel.” Fashion show tickets,
priced at £20, are available at Twist, Oasis, Serena Fashions, Daisies
and Silks Hotels. The ticket price includes canapés and a glass of
bubbly during the interval, donated by Silks Hotels and Maxwell Wines.
Proceeds from the fashion shows will go to the Wessex Cancer Trust.
Starting on Friday, the Crosfield Hall will host a two-day
exhibition showing off a range of fashion, health and wellbeing
products, all sourced or available in the locality.
During the course of both days, Wellow Fitness Centre will put on demonstrations of Pilates and Fitball.
There are a few places still available for the Crosfield Hall
event, which runs from 10am to 4pm on Friday and Saturday. For more
details, ring Carolyn Finch at Daisies on 01794 524247.
Silks Larder, the healthy-eating delicatessen range produced
entirely in Romsey by Silks Hotels, will be available to sample and buy
in the Market Place on Friday and Saturday.
Romsey Perfumery, who are also celebrating 25 years in business in
Romsey this year, are providing a series of beauty treatments in their
Bell Street store. These include complimentary make-overs on Thursday,
nail and skin care consultations on Friday and Clarins skincare and
make-up consultations on Saturday.
At King John’s House, in Church Street, an exhibition of historic
costumes will be displayed and next door at Romsey Tourist Information
Centre there will be an open day, featuring a Fashion Trail competition
with a winning prize of a family ticket to Paultons Park.
There will also be a Hampshire Fayre food tasting and 10 per cent discount on all gifts and publications purchased on the day.
The centre will also be receiving an award from Visit Britain on
Saturday at 11am as it becomes an “Enjoy England Official Partner”. A
plaque to mark the achievement will be unveiled on the day.
