Food Festival at Silks Hotels Romsey

Romsey town centre will be bursting with local food on Sunday 2 August 2009 with the first Romsey Food Festival, expanding on the regular bi-monthly Hampshire Farmers’Market.

At this celebration of local produce, Hampshire Fare chefs including Executive Chef Paul Bingham and Pastry Chef Gabriella Jackson of Silks Hotels Romsey, will beholding cookery demonstrations using locally-sourced ingredients.  Around 40 Hampshire Farmers’ Markets stallholders, including the Silks Larder delicatessen range all made right in the heart of Romsey,  will be selling fresh, seasonal, local produce in Broadwater Road. There will also be food tastings, competitions, advice on recycling, music, additional stallholders in the Cornmarket and a willowworkshop.

Children can take part in food workshops run by Hampshire Fare Home Economist Davina Tibbetts, with ingredients supplied by Waitrose and The Southern Co-operative,and Fairtrade bag painting.  These will be hosted at Silks Hotels Romsey –The White Horse, with music and refreshments available from the hotel. Workshop places for children from 5–11 years are limited and it is best tobook.  These run at 10.30am, 11.45am, 1.00pm and 2.15pm and last for 45minutes.  All ingredients are provided and children can take their work home.  Cost per child per workshop is £5 a head.  To pre-book contactSilks Hotels Romsey – The White Horse on 01794 512431.
