Chef's Daniel Gover and Christopher Saunders win!
On Wednesday the 17th March, Daniel Gover and Christopher Saunders from the kitchen team at the White Horse Hotel and Brasserie in Romsey competed in the Wessex Salon Culinaire competition at the BIC in Bournemouth.

This regular culinary event attracts the best chefs from the whole of the South of England, and has a reputation for incredibly high standards. Daniel Gover excelled himself with a dish of Roasted whole poussin with celeriac puree, fondant potatoes, truffled spinach and Girrole mushrooms. This impressed the judges to such an extent that he was awarded a bronze certificate and second place in the competition overall. Christopher Saunders’ dish was equally striking, a Fennel tarte tatin accompanied by pan seared scallops, monkfish and a vermouth dressing. This intricate blending of flavour led to Chris coming third overall with merit.

This was a fine effort on the part of both of these local chefs, especially considering the high quality of the opposition. If you would like to sample some of The White Horse Hotel and Brasserie’s award-winning fare, why not pay them a visit in the Market Place, Romsey?
